Summary

Schindler's List is a heroic story of a German man named Oskar Schindler. He saved more Jews from extermination than any other person. Oskar Schindler was a factory owner during the time of WWII. Schindler had been working with Jewish people for as long as he could remember and became great friends with many. When Hitler decided to exterminate the Jews, Schindler didn't think twice about trying to save them. Schindler had recently bought a factory and decided that the only way to save the Jews was to get the Nazis to believe he was running a forced labor camp. Schindler owned two factories throughout this time. His first was bought before the decision to exterminate the Jews. The second factory was near a concentration camp so all seemed normal. The only difference between his camp and the Nazi camps was that the Jews at Schindler's factory were fed based on the 2,000 calorie diet. The Jews still had to work, but were fed and treated with respect. Schindler eventually created a list of men and women to prevent them from being sent to an extermination camp. He told his workers that they can either work for him, or die in a camp. That was Schindler's promise.

Why this book is placed on the Outstanding Book List

Schindler's List was placed on the outstanding book list because it is a fantastic heroic story based on the real life of a man. This book takes you back to the time of WWII and gives a clear idea of what it was like. This book shows that if you set your heart to something, it will pay off. Oskar Schindler had a lot of courage to go through with this and you can really feel it. This heroic story makes you feel like you're living in the time of WWII and experiencing the same hardships as Schindler. Though there are many hardships and concerns during this time, the book is very inspirational. Especially the result of Oskar Schindler's hard work.

Would I Recommend?

I definately would recommend Schindler's List! I would recommend this book because it is so interesting. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to try and save lives during WWII, this is the book for you! Even if you aren't, this book is very inspirational. This is not a "quick read" kind of book, this is a book where you sink in and lose track of time! There is always a new twist that keeps you wanting to read more! I would recommend this book to anybody who wants a book to really inspire them. Schindler's List is a bit on the longer side, so if you're anything like me, you probably wouldn't pick it up unless you had to. I've learned from this book to never turn a book a way because of the length. I hope you learn the same and try Schindler's List out. You won't regret it!
